Our Washington, DC office is looking to add a Mechanical Engineering Leader to our growing multi-disciplinary team. We have worked in the local market for the past 30 years and established a physical office in 2010. You will be leading mechanical design and coordination for a variety of projects. Our team works on local, regional, and global projects like academic buildings, institutional and government buildings, museums, laboratories, commercial offices, and data centers. In this role you will, + Lead the design of mechanical systems including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air and water distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation, and controls + Be responsible for project management, including day-to-day financial management on medium or large projects. + Maintains good relationships with existing clients and help build relationships with new clients + Focus on low carbon and zero energy design, such as geothermal system, load shedding by thermal mass, natural ventilation, etc. + Present technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences + Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects + Understand trends and standard methodologies in the DC market + Attend meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them + Build a climate of trust and openness in the team, develops individuals in their technical specialization, and deliver timely feedback and recognition to others Requirements: + Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering + 10 or more years of related experience and a consistent record of mechanical system design for buildings which incorporates the goal of sustainability. + PE required, experienced engineer of record preferred; NCEES preferred + Familiarity with codes, specifically CMR, IMC, ASHRAE standards 55, 62.1, 90.1 + Strong interpersonal and communication skills crucial for team-based working + The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work, and outstanding organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment + LEED Accreditation, WELL Certification, or ASHRAE BXCP Certification; LEED AP BD+C preferred Benefits that Work - At Arup, we have a comprehensive and valuable benefits program that works for our employees and their families while keeping costs low.
