Responsibilities
The Department Finance Director reports to the Department Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and is a strategic leadership position in the Department, critical to the development and implementation of the Department's short- and long-range strategic plans and direction.
In this role you will:
directly supervise a team of 5 FTEs, which support the fund management, payroll and personnel administration, and supplies procurement for a workforce of more than 180 FTEs
oversee budget management, decision support and financial analysis services for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
foster a culture of continuous process improvement regarding these services
oversee the preparation of Department's budgets, forecasts, variance and trend analysis and multi-year financial plans
perform complex ad-hoc reporting and analysis and provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
Qualifications
Required:
5 plus years of experience managing a finance department
7 plus years of progressive experience in financial management roles
Advanced Excel and Power Point skills
Creative problem solver that can identify sources of information from disparate sources and deliver comprehensive, balanced, and actionable insights
Demonstrated experience as an effective team leader and supervisor
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
Excellent customer service interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
High level of ethics, integrity, discretion and confidentiality
Prior leadership experience in academic healthcare setting strongly preferred
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a desire to understand the issues
Strong knowledge of financial and accounting concepts, including basic framework of the P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow
Strongly Preferred:
MBA in Finance
Advanced Tableau or PowerBI skills preferred
Expertise in fund accounting and performance metrics of research intensive health systems desirable
Fund accounting experience preferred
