As a Windows System Administrator within the Advanced Photon Source Information Technology group at Argonne National Laboratory, you will be part of a team that supports the beamline systems and services. Our administrators design, implement, and manage services running on Windows systems within the dynamic beamline environment. In this role, you will leverage automation and configuration management technology to configure operating systems and associated hardware for the support of data control and acquisition systems operating experiments.
Provide advanced level support of Advanced Photon Source X-ray Division beamline computers and their associated networking running the Windows operating system.
Provide second level technical assistance for beamline user support and problem resolution.
Implement software and hardware installation and configuration for computers along with network troubleshooting.
Responsible for timely and accurate logging of problem resolutions in the ServiceNow ticketing system.
Provides technical guidance and support to first level Computer Specialists.
Knowledge and advanced skills in computer hardware and software installation and support
Experience with software and hardware, particularly for network support of computer systems
Experience in computer security
Maintaining the Windows operating system and associated networking
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to maintain good customer relations with the computer systems users
Ability to work independently and seek advanced technical direction
Ability to collaborate on project teams and across IT sections (Windows, Mac, Linux, Networking)
Provide weekend and after hours support as required to meet program requirements
