If you served in the US military, you’re among the best-trained workforce in the world. As a job seeker, you understand organizational structure and the meaning of discipline. And while you appreciate the importance of ever-increasing personal responsibility, you also learned the value of teamwork. If you’re in the process of leaving military service due to downsizing, you have important skills that translate to virtually any career.

While the civilian workforce has fallen behind in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) ?elds, today’s high-tech US military has placed a major emphasis on training soldiers in these disciplines. Through on-base and off-base classroom and hands-on instruction, as well as financial support for soldiers pursuing technical and engineering degrees, US military vets are increasingly setting themselves apart from civilian liberal arts graduates. Still, the employment stats for those recently leaving military service reveal that more help is needed in finding jobs for veterans.

To ease the transition to civlian employment, Military.com Benefits recently posted the "35 Top Employers for Military," compiled by Civilian Job News. They evaluated a full range of diverse companies and industries. Some large, some small. The list includes information on veteran hiring practices, as well as job postings for those companies. Topping the list are such well-known brands as Amazon, The Exchange, BNSF Railway, CACI International, Capstone Corporation, CenterPoint Energy, Chesapeak Energy Corporation, Cintas and many more. Check out the Top-35 List.
