The Fun of Buying a New Car

Posted by

A friend of mind stopped by the other day, and was eager to show me his new car. I could tell he was excited by the look in his eye as he told me about it. For the past two years, this young man had been driving a beat up clunker, and was embarrassed when his friends would see him pull up. He really wanted to get something nicer, but he did not have full time employment.

Well a few months ago, he landed a really nice position and was able to start a savings and investment plan. As part of this plan he budgeted a certain amount of money for a low mileage, late model, pre-owned automobile. After much research online, he was able to identify the kind of car he wanted and felt ready to purchase it.
Last week, the day finally came when he was able to walk into an automobile dealership and purchase the car at a monthly payment he could afford. As he showed me the car, I could see the pride in his eyes and his tone of voice as he told me about his “new baby.” As I got a whiff of that new car smell, it reminded me of the time I purchased my first new car. I must say, I began to relive some of those same feelings I had experienced, as a young adult, when I purchased my brand new Camaro. It was so much fun to show it to all my friends and relatives, take pictures of it, and drive it around town.

Buying a new car is one of the American dreams that can get many people excited. Just planning to do it is half the fun. Looking online and visiting showrooms or pre-owned car lots is exhilarating and empowering. There is nothing else like it. My advice is, when you can afford it; go shopping for a new car. It is just too much fun to put off.
