Do you love to be busy? Are you always moving? Have trouble just being still? Do you have ADHD? People who are always on the go have so much energy and can focus on many different tasks at the same time. For these prolific multi-taskers, taking a job where they will be expected to sit at a desk and do a monotonous task all day would be soul crushingly difficult.
Fortunately, there are career choices out there for almost any type of person. Some jobs may require special skills and talents and others may require you to have an advanced degree from a university or an online degree program. It you have ADHD or are always on the go, here are 5 great career choices for you:
- Jobs in transportation – Flight attendants, truck drivers, shipping agents and even railway conductors all have jobs where no two days are alike. These types of jobs offer adventure and you get the bonus of being able to travel. For example, a truck driver might take different loads to different locations every day, flight attendants travel all over and even a local delivery driver doesn't know exactly what their day will entail.
- Military – The members of the military have very diverse jobs and they never really know when they will have to do something completely different. Even people who have very specific jobs spend portions of their time doing physical training, doing drills and even learning other skills that don't directly relate to their job title. They often deploy and travel to other locations to do their jobs and every day is an adventure.
- Construction – Construction workers have to get up early and work outside all day, even in cold or hot weather. They run the risk of getting injured on the job but they get to work with tools and create things that last. Electricians, painters, landscapers and roofers are just a few jobs in the field that offer the excitement of a constantly changing work day. Some days they might complete several small jobs, while other days they may be working on longer projects.
- Event planning – Planning great parties and planning large events takes talent and the ability to juggle many tasks. The amount of physical and mental energy that goes into planning even small events is enormous. Event planners can find jobs planning weddings and events for individuals or they may enjoy working as an event coordinator with a larger company. Either way, this job requires someone who is able to focus on many different things. It is fast paced and you never know what the day will hold.
- Outside sales – A sales career isn't for everyone, but for those who enjoy sales and marketing, outside sales provides a high energy, ever changing work environment. Outside sales agents typically travel to meet with clients in order to sell their products. They may have a set sales area and visit the same clients every week or month, or they could work with a larger sales team and visit clients for longer periods of time. Their work day always offers new challenges and excitement.
Even if a desk job isn't for you, there are many careers that offer adventure and change. These sorts of jobs are hard for people who like a more predictable day. However, if you just can't sit still, maybe one of these careers would be right for you.
