    The VP for PBM Operations & Client Services leads Benefit Operations Management, Implementation and Client Services, Prior Authorization, and PBM Core Operations (claims, eligibility, formulary, testing). The leader is responsible for the 2500+ team members and continually ensuring the organization delivers high quality, superior client & member experiences and continuously drives innovation, improvement, and cross functional collaboration across the PBM.

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a member of the operations senior leadership team and advise executives on external trends, problems, and activities to facilitate both short- and long-range strategic plans to improve operational performance and enhance growth.?

    • Set the vision and strategic plan for OptumRx PBM operations & client services and support scaled operations through solid partnership across RX.?

    • Uncover new pathways of operational excellence and more efficient use of systems and resources.?

    • Innovate through continual review of existing structures, workflows, systems and processes.?

    • Leverage data and analytics to influence changes and set direction.?

    • Engage with current and prospective clients to showcase PBM operations and client services offerings and abilities.

    • Execute transformation aimed at distinguishing the OptumRx PBM Operations and Client Services value proposition while ensuring we deliver on continuous improvement efforts focused on improving the member and client experience while lowering the cost to serve.?

    • Influence stakeholders at multiple levels in the organization.

    • Establish personal and professional credibility by proactively building solid relationships at all levels of the organization.?

    • Build and develop teams that can scale while delivering excellence; hire and develop members of the team and continue to mentor and grow the team from within.?

    • Demonstrate solid leadership skills and abilities and develop those qualities in their management team through candidate selection, effective onboarding and training, goal setting and mentorship, as well as the ability to make course corrections when needed to get an individual or team back on track.?

    Required Qualifications ?

    • 7+ years' proven leadership of scaled operations in a client or consumer-centric organization.?

    • 5+ years' experience in leading multi-discipline operations in a complex, matrixed organization.?

    • Experience leading sizable organizations, greater than 1k people.?

    • Ability to establish effective working relationships with executives and key business partners to drive a change agenda.?

    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with teams fast-moving and dynamic business environment.?

    • Capability to build a team and operate with a geographically distributed network of colleagues to solve problems quickly.?

    • Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities and an enterprise-wide perspective.?

    • Solid communication, influencing, problem solving and negotiation skills.?

    California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington residents is $250,000-$325,000 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
