    The open position is for an experienced Total Rewards Director to provide compensation and benefits expertise and support to the HR organization and all employees within the organization. The Director will be responsible the development, implementation and monitoring of the Total Rewards policies, procedures, practices and programs. This Director will use data to evaluate organizational requirements and determine compensation requirements. This Total Rewards leader will make recommendations on allocations of compensation and benefits to appropriately attract, motivate and retain talent. Will conduct market analyses to understand compensation and benefits competitiveness in the market; will design and development benefits plans/programs. Core responsibilities of the job include managing health and welfare programs, 401(k) plan, ACA compliance requirements, employee benefits data, and internal and external data analytics. The Director will also administer the leave of absence and disability programs, workers compensation scenarios and lead benefit operations and initiatives. The Director will work closely with the Exec. Director of HR and organization's leadership team.

    This Director will own the execution of long-term strategy (e.g., more than 3 years) and operational direction, typically for an entire region, country, product or business of significant size and scope. Problems faced are often complex and require extensive investigation and analysis. Requires ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and ability to communicate and influence senior executive leadership.

    Problems and issues faced are frequently complex and multidimensional, requiring broad-based consideration of variables that impact multiple areas of the organization. Extensively analyzes problems to seek understanding of the underlying issue and root cause of the problem. Responsible for improving upon entire processes or systems, leveraging on personal past experiences and in-depth understanding of best practices in the marketplace that may improve the competitive position of the organization. May provide guidance and leadership to implement changes, which may be transformational and have broad impact on the achievement of results for the organization.

    Communicates with parties within and outside of own business, and responsibilities for communicating with parties external to the organization, which may include customers or vendors. Works to influence others or may negotiate with internal and external parties to accept concepts, practices and approaches of the work area. Requires ability to communicate with senior executive leadership regarding matters of strategic importance to the organization. May conduct briefings to senior leaders both within and outside of the job function. May represent the "face" of the organization to the public within area of expertise. Requires the ability to influence the strategic vision of the organization.

    Has hiring, firing, promotion and reward authority within own area, in accordance with company guidelines. May manage multiple teams led by managers, or may manage a region, country, product or business of significant size and scope which includes multiple teams. Responsible for creating workforce and staffing plans to ensure availability of human capital necessary to accomplish business results. Coaches and develops talent.

    Benefits Responsibilities:

    • Determine employee benefit best practices by benchmarking best practices, researching industry and employment trends, tracking legislation, and estimating impact.

    • Recommend employee benefit programs by examining, evaluating, and optimizing employee understanding, acceptance, and interests, costs, regulatory requirements, and competitive advantage. Determine employee interest by conducting employee surveys and analyzing responses.

    • Explain employee benefits by conducting meetings, preparing written and graphic announcements and explanations, and responding to requests.

    • Provide HR management information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing employee benefit data and trends.

    • Plan and execute location-specific wellness programming.

    • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, ADA, Section 125, FMLA, and CA benefit and leave-related laws. Respond to inquiries and ensure benefit policies and administrative practices and processes are in compliance.

    • Participate in discussions with vendors and follow through on fee negotiations, risk areas, plan design, etc.

    Compensation Responsibilities:

    • Support recruitment activities by conducting competitive benchmarking and guidelines for structuring new hire offers, promotions, adjustments, transfers, etc. Work with Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partners in a consultative manner to develop specific recommendations to attract, motivate, and retain key talent.

    • Lead market pricing process, including job matching. Manage survey participation and analyze competitive market data to ensure the achievement of equitable and competitive employee compensation.

    • Support the annual and mid-year compensation processes.

    • Manage an employee Wellness program and employee recognition programs.

    Key Competencies:

    • Analytics : Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information. Analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions. Strong knowledge of ERISA, and other regulatory matters. Strong analytical, decision-making and consultative skills. Familiarity with budget forecasting and accounting.

    • Problem Solving : Identifies problems, determines accuracy and relevance of information, and uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, as well as make recommendations. Strong project management, delegation and prioritization skills.

    • Creative Thinking : Uses imagination to develop new insights into situations and applies innovative solutions to problems and designs new methods where established methods and procedures are inapplicable or unavailable.

    • Systems Knowledge : Proven proficiency with MS Office. Experience with HRIS systems is a strong plus.

    Requirements:

    • Requires advanced business knowledge, general management and leadership capability to lead business or functional.

    • Education: A bachelor's degree in human resources, business management or related field or equivalent experience and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 12 years' experience

    • Certifications: Total Rewards certifications preferred, i.e. SHRM Total Rewards Specialty Credential

    • In-depth knowledge of benefits design and administration principles, laws, and practices.

    • Solid working knowledge of compensation programs and processes

    • A thorough understanding of benefits administration and in-depth understanding of leave of absence policies, as well as state and federal laws governing leaves

    • Proficiency in MS Excel, (pivot tables, vlook-ups, etc.)

    Requires advanced business knowledge, general management and leadership capability to lead business or functional teams.

    Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years experience

    Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 14 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

    The salary range for this role is 171,000 USD - 343,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

    Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

    This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
