    Primary Purpose:

    The position is an executive level corporate and federal affairs position for Exelon. The Senior Vice President is responsible for overall management of the Exelon Corporate Affairs and Government Affairs organizations. This senior leader, based in Washington, DC, provides strategic guidance to the corporation regarding Federal legislative and policy issues affecting the company involving Congress and the Administration. This executive will lead a multi-faceted communications team to maintain and enhance the positive reputation of Exelon and effectively engage all key stakeholders in order to support business outcomes and the achievement of Exelon's vision.

    Primary Duties:

    Develop and implement strategies to promote Federal public policy positions to benefit Exelon. Work closely with Exelon senior management, business unit heads and their designees to identify and assess issues of importance to Exelon customers, employees and shareholders and to identify public policy objectives for key issues. Work with internal customers, consultants, trade associations and other allies to develop and implement strategy for achieving public policy objectives.

    Overall responsibility for design and execution of a comprehensive internal and external Corporate Communications strategy using multiple formats and media to maintain and increase awareness of Exelon's key community goals and achievements, differentiate the organization competitively as an environmental and business leader, and cultivate and sustain critical relationships.

    Lead the development and execution of strategy for Public Advocacy, Digital Marketing and Reputation Strategy & Insights organizations.

    Maintain proactive, open and ongoing communication to exchange relevant information with senior management to effectively manage and modify communication programs; serve as designated point person in all aspects of communications to ensure message continuity, clarity and accuracy.

    Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key Members of Congress and Congressional staff including: Congressional delegations in the District of Columbia, Illinois, New Jersey and Pennsylvania; House and Senate leadership, Democrat, Republican and Independent members; key House and Senate committee members and staff.

    Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key Administration officials and staff: White House and Office of the Vice President, Executive Branch Departments and Independent Federal Agencies.

    Promote Exelon public policy positions with national trade associations, coalitions, and other key allies such as Edison Electric Institute, American Gas Association, COMPETE Coalition, and other coalitions. For key issues, identify traditional and non-traditional allies to promote policy objectives.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum 4 year college degree

    Minimum of 15 years professional experience with management and leadership responsibilities at least 7 years of which have been involved in the public policy and communications arena.

    A complete understanding of the Federal legislative and regulatory processes

    A fundamental understanding of the electric and gas energy industry and key public policy issues affecting the industry.

    An ability to understand complex issues and the implications of current financial, energy, legal and labor issues for Exelon and the industry.

    A track record of guiding high profile agendas and/or issue campaigns through complex political and regulatory environments and the broader public policy arena.

    Strong consultative and interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups of individuals inside and outside large companies including CEOs, presidents and their staffs, lobbyists, federal and state elected and appointed officials and regulators, trade and business associations, foundations, political organizations, and public interest groups.

    Proven, successful experience in leading a broad base of internal and external communications functions including key message management, employee communications, speech and presentation support, copywriting and editing, script-writing, and multiple forms of electronic communications including interactive and social networking.

    Must have exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills.

    Absolute integrity and discretion consultants to promote Exelon political and public policy goals.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Either a BA or BS degree in business, communications, political science, public policy or related field; Law degree or masters degree in business, political science, public policy or related field.

    A wide network of contacts within the business community, federal government, elected officials, and public interest groups.

    Leadership positions in external trade associations, coalitions or industry organizations.
