    This Opportunity

    WSP is currently seeking a certified welding (AWS CWI) and coatings (AMPP / NACE / SSPC Level II) inspector to join our team that is based in Jacksonville, FL. This is a technical field position that requires travel to various locations within the US and in some cases to Canada. It is preferred that the candidate also has experience in structural steel and bridge inspections with familiarity with AWS Codes D1.1 and D1.5. The ideal candidate will be available for immediate contract employment followed with an assignment that will continue for the long term. The candidate must be capable of rigorous physical activity.

    Your Impact

    • In a quality assurance (QA) role

    • structural steel fabrication activities in the shop and the field including but not limited to dimensional checks, welding inspection, NDT, coatings, and material test reports to contract drawings and documents

    • monitoring and measuring: surface preparation, surface cleanliness, environmental conditions, paint kit mixing, and applications for compliance with approved contract documents, standards, and specifications

    • Communication and interaction with owners, fabricators, engineers, NDT technicians, and other coating professionals

    • Writing daily shop / field reports in digital format

    • Participate in WSP safety meetings

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    • High School Diploma.

    • Minimum of 9 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior construction inspection experience.

    • NACE / AMPP or SSPC Coatings Certification Level II

    • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification

    • Dependability, honesty, and integrity

    • Computer Skills: Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    • Must be able to work well independently and with others

    • Decision making skills

    • Self-starter

    • Must be willing to travel as needed, including overnight stays when out of town

    • Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver License

    • Sufficient physical stamina to work long hours indoors and outdoors under various field conditions and exposure to traffic, extreme heat, cold, rainfall, and snow

    • Climbing, bending, crawling, and working on platforms, lift baskets, in confined spaces, and on uneven terrain

    • Ability to lift 25+ lbs.

    • Must pass a physical and background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in metallizing and related inspections

    • Experience performing QA/QC during structural steel fabrication

    • ASNT NDT Level II or level III Certification (VT, UT. MT, RT (film interpretation))

    • ICC Bolting certification
