Staff Accountant

Description Robert Half is looking for an experienced, organized individual to take on the long-term contract / temporary to hire role of Staff Accountant at a growing, dynamic company in the Non-Profit industry. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will have responsibility for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and work alongside our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. A highly involved position, it works to produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Gardena, California region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.

Your responsibilities in this role

• Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

• Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

• Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

• Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management

• Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments

• Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

• Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed

• Maintain monthly payment schedules

• Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process

• Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

• Recent and relevant accounting experience

• Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

• Self-starter and strong ethical standards

• Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

• Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

• Efficient in ERP systems

• Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

• Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

• Accounting Functions experience

• Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
