    Job Overview:

    We are seeking a talented Senior Technical Designer to be a part of our close-knit technical design team, to work closely with our design and development teams across our brands. Working from initial design sketches, creating detailed technical garment measurement specs and construction specs in PLM for Mens, Womens, Youth and/or Kids in lifestyle or performance apparel and/or protective equipment or bags. The Sr. Technical Designer position requires experience with complicated/articulated patternmaking and grading and detailed innovative garment construction. Applicant must have knowledge of a large varying range of knit and woven fabrications, how fabrics react on the body and the ability to conduct fittings on live models.

    This position is hybrid and will work 2 days from home and 3 days from the Irvine, CA headquarters.

    Responsibilities:

    -Create initial technical specifications including measurement specs & grades and construction details for each style and update throughout the development process.

    -Recommend best construction applications to Design and Development while keeping the integrity of the design and styling.

    -Spec and analyze vendor sample garments to determine compliance of pattern, spec, construction, and fit intent.

    -Review previous fit comments and current vendor patterns and samples before fit sessions, ensuring all set requirements have been met.

    -Lead fittings for assigned styles and advise fit comments and supply tech sketches, resolving any fit and function issues, demonstrating to the design/product development teams that the corrections being applied will result in the desired look, fit and function desired.

    -Create patterns and/or apply necessary corrections to vendor patterns to reflect adjustments reviewed during fittings.

    -Create and maintain blocks and patterns for all styles assigned in your divisions.

    -Work with In-House Sample Department to create prototypes for new innovations and/or construction mock-ups when necessary.

    -Communicate with developers on all technical issues, providing technical expertise on how to correct or achieve a desired fit or function of a garment. Give detailed feedback on vendor samples.

    -Review vendor grading, guarantee proportions are maintained throughout the size range. Make adjustments to the standard grade when necessary to maintain proportions for individual styles.

    -Schedule appropriate fit models for fittings in each division (Mens, Womens, Youth, Kids) in lifestyle, performance soft goods and/or hardgoods.

    Creation and Development team.

    -Self-starter, capable of multi-tasking, managing projects independently, organized, detail-oriented,

    efficient with workflow while able to meet strict timelines.

    -Able to turn comments for multiple styles in a 48 hour window.

    Required Education, Experience and Skills:

    -Minimum AA degree in design, technical design in related field of study, or equivalent functional experience.

    -Experience working within a design culture based around innovation and advanced product creation.

    -Proven track record (at least 8+ years) in patternmaking, grading and technical design roles.

    -Strong understanding of Technical Design principles, aesthetics, and the product development lifecycle.

    -Exceptional communication skills with the ability to use a critical eye for proportion and fit to maintain fit standards throughout the design and development process.

    -Proficient in Gerber Silhouette 2000 PDS (version 16) Patternmaking software (or similar) and Digitizer & Plotter, PLM data management, Adobe Illustrator (or similar program), MS Office, Word and Excel.

    -Demonstrating ability to think strategically, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize tasks effectively.

    -Strong problem-solving skills, with a critical eye for proportion and styling detail with the ability to give clear, concise directions in fittings working with the product team to maintain the excellence of creativity and innovation.

    -Knowledge of the latest industry trends and emerging technologies in garment construction (sewing, bonding, etc.).

    -Ability to adapt to multiple product categories including Mens, Womens, Youth and Kids (in Sportswear, Outerwear, Mountain Biking and Motocross) clothing and extended lines of products.

    -Must have excellent time management and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a team player.

    -Required to maintain department goals and objectives (blocks, standardized specs and grades, construction detail specs, etc.)

    Pay Range:

    $80,700.00 - $126,300.00

    The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
