    The MELT instrumentation team is responsible for creating the backbone of our observability signals. The team builds solution which scales to billions of metrics per min, millions of change events, tens of Petabytes of logs per day, and billions of traces per min. Our team provides standardized solutions that enables all of LinkedIn's applications & infrastructure to easily instrument, emit, and process these signals. As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work with each LinkedIn application stack and leverage open source tools like OpenTelemetry and Fluent Bit to integrate with our stack. The system problems this team solve are at hyper scale and require working with high concurrency service infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    Manage teams to scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, review code, and deliver with speediness and quality.

    Develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable system infrastructure observability solutions that operate 24x7.

    Produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.

    Basic Qualifications

    BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

    1+ years of experience in software engineering/technical management and people management.

    5+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering

    Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages(like Java/CPP/Scala/etc.)

    Hands on experience developing distributed systems, databases, large scale data systems and/or Backend API's

    Preferred Qualifications

    MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline

    2+ years of hands-on software engineering/technical management and people management experience

    7+ years industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.

    5+ years programming experience in languages such as Java, C/C++, C#, Python, Go, etc.

    The pay range for this role is $156,000 to $255,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
