  • We are looking for a FULL-TIME Shuttle Driver who hold a CDL with passenger endorsement. The position is an AM float, start time varies between 4:30am and 8:45am and consists of an 8-hour shift.

    As a Shuttle Bus Driver, you will promote a positive Cleveland Clinic experience through friendly, courteous, safe and effective transport of patients, visitors, and/or caregivers to and from Cleveland Clinic Main Campus locations, caregiver parking lots and special events. Your primary duties will include:

    • Assisting passengers.

    • Operating wheelchair lifts and properly securing the wheelchair prior to operating the shuttle.

    • Inspecting shuttles daily before services.

    • Providing safe transportation service.

    • Possesses a CDL license with passenger endorsement, air brakes, and a history of providing safe transportation.

As required, assists physically challenged individuals on/off shuttles; to include, operation of a wheelchair lift and properly securing the wheelchair prior to operation of the shuttle.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conducts friendly, courteous and helpful interactions with passengers. Maintains high performance as measured by customer satisfaction surveys, mystery shopper audits, and supervisor observations.

    • Knowledgeable and capable of communicating to patients/visitors/employees regarding facilities, restaurant, banking, hotel or other services on or off the campus.

    • Provides wheelchair assistance to destination and provides positive hand off with destination caregiver.

    • Provides safe, efficient, and quality shuttle transportation service as measured by driving record, compliance with established DOT regulations and Cleveland Clinic safety policies.

    • Maintains vehicle presentation and cleanliness at all times in accordance with policy and procedures.

    • Maintains situational awareness both inside/outside the shuttle at all times.

    • Reports any suspicious behavior to CCPD.

    • Completes daily passenger vehicle safety inspections prior to placing the shuttle into operation and at the end of the shift.

    • Records deficiencies and reports prior to dispatching the vehicle. Never operates a shuttle with a known safety or operational deficiency.

    • Maintains currency and effectiveness in operating wheelchair lift and associated equipment. Safely secures patient and wheelchair at the wheelchair station.

    • Assists passengers/luggage on/off shuttle.

    • Drives a shuttle bus up to 10 hours per day and/or up to 60 hours in any 7 consecutive day period. May be required to work weekends or work longer than above hours in emergency situations.

    • Records ridership data.

    • Meets on time performance targets of established schedules.

    • Meets performance requirements on all established patient, visitor and employee shuttle lines and supporting special event requirements.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education:

    • High School Diploma is preferred.

    • Ability to read and write sufficient to fill out maintenance check lists.

    • Ability to follow verbal directions and communicate in a clear and concise manner.

    • Commercial driving training for purpose of safe handling of a shuttle bus with a capacity of up to 40 passengers.

    Certifications:

    • Must possess a valid State Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with air brakes and passenger endorsement and have less than 6 points on record.

    • Driver must maintain eligibility of insurability as determined by CCF's insurance carrier's requirement to operate Foundation vehicles.

    • Drivers assume responsibility to pay fees associated with traffic violations.

    Work Experience:

    • Minimum five (5) years driving experience; prior experience transporting passengers, patients or clients preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Typical physical demands include ability to assist physically challenged patients and visitors in wheelchair on and off wheelchair left on vehicle.

    • This includes using both wheelchair lift and ramp equipped vehicles.

    • Driver must be capable of exerting push force of 45lbs.

    • Requires sitting and driving a vehicle for an extended period of time. Must be able to pass an annual visual and hearing test.
