Job Summary
Responsibilities
Leads audio software development on multiple project teams that include other software engineers, hardware engineers and development partners (internal and external)
Responsible for all stages of audio software design and development for complex products, solutions, and platforms.
Performs unit test of firmware and works with entire audio team to validate audio performance against product requirements including meeting requirements for certification with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google, Tencent and others as required.
Coordinates closely with Product Enablement software team to ensure that full software system works as intended both for individual products and for system solutions.
Identifies trends and opportunities for optimizing technical performance of products/solutions, quality enhancements and cost of delivery.
Provides domain-specific expertise, including overall audio/acoustic software and platform leadership, to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
Contributes to technology strategy and engineering roadmaps around audio software engineering; executes strategic software engineering proof of concepts.
Develops cost estimates, business cases, appropriation requests and plans for audio engineering projects.
Delivers professionally written reports, including analyses of complex audio/acoustic data that deliver key findings to enable data-driven decisions.
Working closely with audio hardware engineers, drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and products.
Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of audio software design and development, innovation, and excellence.
Education & Experience Recommended
Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
Typically has 7-10 years of software work experience, including at least 3 years of experience with audio software development.
Preferred Certifications
Knowledge & Skills
Audio Firmware and Command Protocols - must have experience and advanced knowledge
Programming (C++, Python) - must have strong skills and experience
Audio DSP programming - must have foundational knowledge, experience preferred
Signal Processing Algorithms - must have foundational knowledge
Agile Methodology - must have understanding
Audio transducers - must have basic understanding
Application Programming Interface (API) - must have basic understanding
Audio/Acoustic testing - experience is highly preferred
Microsoft Teams, Zoom or similar Audio Certification standards - familiarity is highly preferred
Interface protocols (USB, I2S, SPI, I2C, UART) - familiarity is desired
Audio MCU, MPU and/or SoC - experience is desired
