  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

    Clinical Lab courier, pickup and deliver specimens, reports and supplies, as directed.

    Typical Duties:

    1. Drive a scheduled route to area physicians' offices, other hospitals and health centers. Walk a scheduled route to labs within the hospital. Pick up patient specimens. Document all stops. Respond to dispatcher stat and routine calls. (E) 75%

    2. Gather reports and supplies to be delivered on the route from multiple locations. (E) 7%

    3. Distribute patient specimens to appropriate laboratories. (E) 7%

    4. Maintain courier vehicle, fill gas tank, check oil and keep interior and exterior clean. (E) 5%

    5. Substitute for other drivers, as needed. (E) 3%

    6. Follow up daily with supervisor on all requests/concerns/customer service issues related to couriers. (E) 2%

    7. Other duties as assigned. (E) 1%

    General Requirements:

    1. Effective interpersonal skills, maintains a friendly and courteous professional manner at all times.

    2. Professional discretion with confidential patient results.

    3. Adherence to all University, Division and Department policies.

    4. Attendance is expected daily and punctually.

    5. May be required to rotate shifts, weekends, and holidays as assigned, or participate in on-call responsibilities.

    6. Valid/Clean NYS drivers license.

    7. Ability to lift thirty (30) pounds.

    8. Adhere to all safety rules and biohazard procedures.

    Education/Experience :

    1. High School diploma and ability to read and write English.

    2. Familiarity with Rochester area and ability to read maps.

    Supervised by Clinical Laboratories Courier Supervisor.

    Pay Range

    Pay Range: $ 18.04 - $ 24.47 Hourly

    The referenced pay range represents the first and last step pay rates for this job, as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Individual pay will be set in accordance with terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
