    Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years leadership experience and 3 years of RN experience, to include critical care transport, pediatric-neonatal critical care transport, or flight EMS experience is strongly preferred.

    Manages the neonatal / pediatric specialty transport team. This team provides exceptional care during the ground or air transport of acute or critically ill / injured neonatal or pediatric patients.

    Infants and children come to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital by ambulance and helicopter from all over Missouri and Illinois. Many of these children are brought to the hospital by using our specially trained Neonatal and Pediatric Transport Team. The Transport Team is made up of paramedics, registered nurses and respiratory therapists who have advanced training in the stabilization, treatment and transport of babies and children. In 2019, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon achieved and is now designated as a Magnet® hospital. This is the highest national honor in nursing excellence and incorporates evidence-based practices to provide the best patient care. Transport Team members are actively involved with evidence-based practice projects. Since 2015, Members have poster / podium presented for the national meetings of the AAP Section on Transport Medicine, ANA Quality Conference, Current Concepts in Neonatal and Pediatric Transport, and the Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association.

    Job Summary:

    Manages activities, workflow and nursing resources of assigned nursing unit(s).

    Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements for self and within unit.

    • Conducts hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff.

    • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services for the assigned unit(s). Develops and implements policies and procedures to guarantee efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.

    • Monitors and adheres to budget. Approves or monitors expenditures, purchases and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.

    • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION

    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing

    EXPERIENCE

    • Two years' registered nurse experience, with demonstrated progressive leadership responsibility OR one year of registered nurse experience plus one year of relevant leadership experience

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

    • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

    • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

    • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

    • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

    • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

    • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

    • Rare climbing.
