    Description:

    In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Research Coordinator is responsible for implementing and managing oncology clinical research projects across Mount Carmel Health System (MCHS).

    • Serves as a resource for oncology-related administrative and regulatory functions related to clinical trials.

    • Responsible for meeting the requirements of Good Clinical Practice, maintaining protocol and regulatory compliance, and development of continuous quality improvement initiatives for research conducted at MCHS.

    • A liaison with outside organizations related to oncology research activities.

    Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

    • Education: Master's degree or higher required in a healthcare related field. Nursing degree preferred

    • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of oncology experience required. Documented clinical research experience preferred

    • A high degree of planning and organizational skills.

    • Proven ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven written, presentation and verbal competencies.

    • Strong ability to work independently

    • Ability to drive own vehicle for work (to and from clinics and hospitals). Mileage is reimbursable.

    • Ability to attend and participate in tumor board and oncology program meetings.

    • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic data capture (EDC) systems.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Oncology Clinical Research Coordinator:

    • Provides overall coordination of the study aspects for patients enrolled in cancer research studies through the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP).

    • Assists investigators and research staff in the identification, recruitment, and education of patients onto NCORP research studies as per HIPAA guidelines.

    • Serves as an educational resource to participating patients, physicians, and associate staff in cancer research

    • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of GCP guidelines and regulatory requirements to maintain patient safety, confidentiality, and the integrity of the clinical trial process.

    • Demonstrates behaviors that reflect quality, professionalism, team work and excellence.

    • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

    • Develops, establishes and maintains productive relationships with NCORP staff and all external customers and contacts to achieve essential research outcomes.

    • Collaborates closely with NCORP, Mount Carmel, and Zangmeister Cancer Center (ZCC) research staff; which may include Clinical Research Nurses, Clinical Research Associates, the Principal Investigator, the Director of Operations, Investigators and Regulatory Staff to ensure key federal/state/local regulatory objectives are met and that ethical obligations are kept.
