  • Job Description

    The Junior Buyer works with and at the direction of the General Manager. The Junior Buyer will be responsible for all facets of buying including the purchasing of and merchandising of specific product lines, data entry, analyzation, interaction with retail staff, and working with our Vendor Partners to ensure that the contractual obligations are met. Disciplined to follow a Corporate ID guideline.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Leads the purchasing of a defined product category by sourcing and selecting product, using sales reports for analyzation, negotiating costs, implement pricing guides and following an Open to Buy plan.

    • Sets up new vendors and creates items in POS System, issues Purchase Orders and maintains data integrity (UPC, Product Description, Cost, Retail Price, Inventory, etc.) for products purchased.

    • Runs reports to see in-stock position, issues re-orders as needed and manages our Min/Max program, updating data regularly based on trends and seasons.

    • Works closely with Receiving and Warehouse personnel and A/P verifying invoices to ensure costs, freight and other charges are correct from our Vendor Partners.

    • Assists with seasonal store opening setups, teardowns, product consolidation and mark downs.

    • Assists with physical store inventories, stocking store, merchandising, and creating new products for retail store as needed.

    • Works with General Manager on seasonal product offerings the planning and execution of special event product development.

    • Attends Trade Shows with General Manager.

    • Works with General Manager to plan store product offering, event offerings and assist with seasonally revisions.

    • Conduct annual line review presentation for a defined product category to General Manager.

    • Strategize and collaborate with General Manager to create product assortments based on trend, seasonality, sustainability, and Client?s requirements.

    • Works on sourcing new product lines that include local, diverse, equitable and sustainable products and vendors to meet contractual and company obligations.

    Qualifications

    • Associates degree in Merchandising or related field preferred.

    • Experience working as a buyer or buyer assistant for a mid to large volume store.

    • Working proficiency of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    • Experience working as a merchandiser, stocker or cashier.

    • Experience working with Retail Pro or similar POS systems that have buying/inventory management software. Proficiency with computer applications related to the retail industry.

    • Experience collaborating with and influencing cross function teams (HR, A/P, Sustainability, IT, merchandising and operations).

    • Strong ability to communicate ideas and lead teams from conception to implementation.

    • Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

    • Excellent written and verbal skills.

    • Must be able to travel 10% of the time.

    • Must be willing to work on the weekend on occasion for special events.
