    The Computing and Information Technology Directorate works to re-imagine how digital technologies can simplify the research experience, enable data-driven insights for decision makers, and accelerate PNNL's research missions. CIT helps connect staff to systems while enabling a broader research computing ecosystem to improve productivity and provide a sense of community.

    It's all about transforming the user experience to enable the productivity of Laboratory research and support staff. This position will focus on management of the PNNL enterprise infrastructure desktop platforms and be part of a team charged to implement the next generation of technology to create effortless user experiences and drive efficiency in operation. The position will facilitate a consumer-like environment and user experience that is provisioned in minutes, supports elegant, leading-edge devices, provides access to information across platforms - anytime, anywhere, is seamlessly maintained, and can be recovered on a moment's notice. The user-centric focus in design and implementation is a differentiator for IT at PNNL and will be a differentiator for the successful candidate.

    Responsibilities

    Applies engineering and technical principles to the design and development of computer networks, cyber security infrastructure, telecommunications, information technology systems and tools, and database systems. Analyzes, installs, integrates, modifies, and supports all associated systems, networks, software, and databases. Plans and conducts projects after analysis of functional and operational requirements. May consult with and lead cross-functional teams.

    Other responsibilities include

    • Develop and maintain Enterprise level configuration management systems for Windows and/or macOS environments.

    • Engineer, test, deploy and manage client images and provisioning for MacOS and Windows devices.

    • Manage, maintain, and evolve use of enterprise client management systems such as Intune.

    • Drive efficiencies in endpoint deployment and management through modern tools and processes.

    • A focus on automation including advanced scripting at scale.

    • Test and validate new end user facing hardware.

    • Provide engineering expertise and escalation for technical support teams.

    • Develop and assess innovative solutions for business driven projects and initiatives.

    • Deliver an immersive, any device from anywhere approach to applications and data leveraging integrations with cloud services and cutting edge virtualization technologies.

    • Transition traditional on-premise back office application management to Microsoft 365 hybrid cloud management.

    • Troubleshoot, research, and resolve complex technical issues.

    • Write procedures and documentation for processes to aid in troubleshooting and review.

    • Participate in peer reviews by sharing your work and providing feedback to others.

    • As necessary, perform other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • BS/BA and 2 years of relevant experience -OR-

    • MS/MA -OR-

    • PhD

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working in a complex, user experience focused Enterprise environment at scale (10000+ clients including Windows, MacOS, iOS and Android).

    • Experience managing Microsoft Windows desktop and/or MacOS desktop environments.

    • Experience with iOS and Android MDM highly desirable.

    • Demonstrated ability to self-direct, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and priorities.

    • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.

    • Demonstrated ability to solve challenging technical problems with innovative solutions.

    • Customer service oriented and approachable.

    • Experience in one or more languages: PowerShell, Bash, Python or other languages to run tasks, perform actions, and automate procedures.

    • Knowledgeable of commercial Cloud environments such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft O365.

    • Exceptional communicator with both technical and nontechnical audiences.
