    A day in the role...

    • Inpatient Medical coder will Review inpatient medical records and assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.

    • This process ensures accurate reimbursement from insurance companies and government healthcare programs.

    • Review and analyze inpatient medical records to ensure accurate coding.

    • Assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.

    • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation when necessary.

    • Maintain compliance with federal coding rules and guidelines.

    • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of coding guidelines and relevant federal regulations using current ICD-10/CM/PCS and CPT-4 materials, the Federal Register, and other pertinent materials

    • Making sure that codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately as per government and insurance regulations.

    • Complying with medical coding guidelines and policies

    • Implementing strategic procedures and choosing strategies and evaluation methods that provide correct results

    • Timely meetings with coding team to review progress on entry for all CPT codes.

    Core Experience

    • Medical Coding (5+ years as a coder)

    • CPC or CCS Certified

    • Inpatient Coding

    • ER Coding Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in inpatient (Hospital) medical coding.

    • Candidates with Ambulatory or outpatient experience is also a plus (in addition)

    • Proficiency in assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient diagnoses and procedures.

    • Familiarity with CPT codes.

    • Strong understanding of medical terminology, disease processes, and pharmacology.

    • Certifications: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
