    How will you make a difference?

    • As a member of the Wabtec Bus Solutions Team, we are looking for an experienced designer with strong mechanical aptitude, problem solving skills, and good manufacturing knowledge to assist our engineering team in the design and development of our next generation passenger door operating products for heavy transit buses.

    What do we want to know about you?

    • Associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline.

    • 5 years + related experience in electromechanical product design.

    • Use of 3-D modeling software (Creo or Solid works preferred) to develop new parts and assemblies.

    What will your typical day look like?

    • Responsible for product design, CAD modeling, creation of detail and assembly drawings, bills of material and related production documentation

    • Design work ranges from small sheet metal or machined components to complex, motorized top level assemblies comprised of numerous subassemblies and component parts. Designing product packaging and fixtures may also be needed.

    • Create 3D models and drawings in parametric-based CAD software (Creo or Solid works is preferred)

    • Understands functional and manufacturing-based challenges with new designs and participates in design reviews and problem-solving exercises.

    • Generates creative solutions; Translates concepts and information into images; Uses feedback to modify designs; Applies design principles; Demonstrates attention to detail.

    • Applies knowledge of ANSI drafting standards, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing to define part or assembly features and fits.

    • Support production operations, including resolving build issues and assisting shop personnel when necessary.

    • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

    • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
