    CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER | MERCY COLLEGE | TOLEDO, OH

    As the Chief Financial Officer of the College this position is part of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for the overall financial operation of the College. This individual will lead and guide the Executive Team in the financial planning of the College, both at strategic and operational levels. This position also oversees the College business office and any retail operation (clothing store). This position serves as the financial liaison with the College Board of Trustees, Foundation Board of Directors, College Finance Committee and Mercy Health Accounting and Finance Departments.

    Essential Functions

    • Responsible for operational and strategic oversight of operations of the College. Oversees the payroll operation of the College in collaboration with the manager of employee relations

    • Collaborates with Mercy Health financial operations staff for general accounting practices, i.e. St. Vincent Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center, Mercy Health - Youngstown and Mercy Health Corporate

    • Responsible for oversight of the operational and strategic financial plans related to academics, enrollment, student affairs, and administrative functions.

    • Assists all functions of the College with their budget planning, etc.

    • Prepares and presents financial reports to the Board at both Trustee and Finance Committee meetings.

    • Serves as the Treasurer of the Mercy College Foundation and prepares the financial reports.

    • Conducts financial and data analysis and prepares clear and concise reports for multiple audience

    • Works within the Mercy Health financial software packages for oversight of College financial operations.

    • Collaborates with faculty and staff in preparation of both the capital and operating budget of the College.

    • Conducts the budget hearings at the Strategic Planning Council. Assists the Strategic Planning and Budgeting

    • Serves as a member of Executive Staff; Strategic Planning and Budgeting Council, and Leadership Council.

    • Collaborates with the external auditors to prepare the annual audit and serves as the primary liaison with the audit team.

    Required

    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Related Field

    • 5 years of accounting/financial leadership experience (higher education preferred with fund accounting knowledge).

    • Ability to lead and communicate with others. Explain financial operations to administrators, faculty, staff, Boards of Trustees, etc.

    • Expertise with word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and financial software packages.

    Preferred

    • Graduate Degree in Accounting or Related Field

    • CPA Preferred
