    Summary

    CHS, Inc. is hiring for a Category Manager - Electrical to establish and lead a sourcing category strategy for CHS enterprise in support of operational excellence. This role will sit in CHS's Global Strategic Sourcing team but work and collaborate closely with our operations teams, engineers, and leaders. This position requires strong client engagement to understand project and stakeholder requirements. The work will include executing category strategies, playing a key role in capital project teams, supplier relationship management and matrix building, standardizing contracts, and engagements, and supporting CHS to be best-in-class. Commodities may include raw materials, finished components and assemblies, cable, wiring, instrumentation, and indirect.

    The ideal candidate for this role brings a passion for business partnerships, creative problem solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This role requires expertise in electrical components and instrumentation sourcing, cross functional teamwork, negotiating contract terms with external vendors, strategic sourcing principles, and the ability to partner closely with internal stakeholders to meet the complex needs of the business.

    Responsibilities

    • Demonstrate leadership, stakeholder engagement and partnership to understand business requirements and collaborate on project and build solutions.

    • Execute highly complex sourcing events, develop strategies, and negotiate complex contracts for the engineering and construction teams.

    • Negotiate with suppliers and analyze supplier operations to resolve factors that affect lowest cost, consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.

    • Drive simplification and best in class ways of working within category in alignment with category manager of capital projects and engineering teams.

    • Plan and adjust strategy as required with changing business capital forecasts, project objectives and translation of impact to procure activities.

    • Support engineering standardization efforts and location maintenance and upgrade needs.

    • Lead key supplier and stakeholder relationship building and maintenance to deliver on role, project, and organizational priorities.

    • Deliver annual and long-range category strategies.

    • Identify preferred suppliers and develop contract and work strategy.

    • Analyze category spend to identify and develop savings opportunities using a variety of procurement levers including competitive bidding, target costing, and footprint optimization.

    • Research industry trends, global markets, benchmark data and industry cost drivers.

    • Implement Supplier Quality Assessment and Performance programs across.

    • Develop close partnership and collaboration with CHS teams and locations.

    • Provide technical expertise in regional spend stakeholder and procurement landscape.

    • Work with business teams to understand budget requirements.

    • Execute legal agreements.

    • Spend analysis/mapping and external market analysis.

    • Identify gaps and opportunities across enterprise to insert sourcing best practices.

    • Provide status updates as part of project team status meetings.

    • Develop and deliver reports to leadership.

    • Engage in dispute resolution and continuous improvement processes.

    • Develop and drive procurement KPIs in alignment with sourcing and project objectives.

    Minimum Qualifications (required)

    • High School diploma or GED

    • 7+ years of experience in sourcing/procurement, supply chain, engineering, or consulting with experience in manufacturing, operations, or electrical.

    Additional Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree preferred in Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.

    • Experience working in larger, more complex operations preferring in project management or construction industry

    • Expert in category strategy, strategic sourcing, supplier management, spend analysis, and contract negotiation

    • Analytical and problem solving

    • Strong knowledge of global electronics-electrical supply chain, category management, strategic sourcing, and supplier management.

    • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.

    • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills

    • Ability to effectively interact and influence people at all levels

    • Ability to prioritize multiple projects to completion

    • Strong computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office

    • Knowledge of Process Improvement techniques (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.)

    • Understanding of centralized processes and organizations

    Physical Requirements

    CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
