    The Cardiovascular Intervention Center is a core element of the Smidt Heart Institute, performing more than 8,000 procedures a year. The department serves the populations of neonates to and including geriatrics. In this twelve-laboratory facility, we perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for coronary artery disease, heart muscle function and heart valve dysfunction.

    Summary of Essential Duties

    • The Cardiovascular Interventional Radiologic Technologist (RT) assists in all procedures performed in the Cardiovascular Intervention Center and is a member of the Cath Lab team.

    • Performs the radiological procedures at a technical level.

    • Responsible for positioning the patient and fluoroscopic equipment as needed to obtain optimum views of all relevant anatomy during procedures.

    • Provides a safe patient care environment, maintains and operates the physiological monitoring/recording system for both interventional cardiac and complex electrophysiology studies, is responsible for monitoring radiation exposure levels during all exams and ensuring that technical factors appropriate for the given procedure are used.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Graduate of a Radiology Technology program in an AMA approved school required

    License/Certifications:

    • Current ARRT and CRT certifications required

    • Fluoroscopy permit required

    • BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required (ACLS preferred)

    • RCIS or RT-CI specialty certifications preferred

    Experience:

    • Educational training involving clinical rotations experience in either Cath Lab or Special Procedures required

    • Applicants with 3 or more years of experience may be considered as Cardiovascular IR Tech II

    • Excellent arrhythmia recognition and hemodynamic monitoring skills required

    • Congenital Heart experience preferred
